A sensational place to eat at for food, service and atmosphere. All the servers were super kind, helpful and knowledgeable about the food, although a busy busy night various servers came to help however would’ve liked to see more staff able to tend to such a busy night. At times had to flag them down or long waits in between courses but they were always busy attending to someone else. Great communication and team working together as we were wished a happy anniversary on various occasions. The food was delicious, some of the best quality foods locally sourced with great portions, amazing attention to detail and a decent price for such an establishment. Highly recommend the tomatoes, house charcuterie, pork(best crackle I’ve ever had) and the fish. Would’ve liked to seen a sharper knife or the meats cut a bit thinner as they were a bit hard to cut for its generous size. Highly recommend and would come back to Melbourne just for this place!
The food here was absolutely bangin'.. cannot fault any dishes really. Flatbread: soft and puffed like a pillow and beautifully spiced Zucchini flowers: so crunchy!! The truffle oil and pecorino was an amazing combination of flavours Lamb: so tender and succulent. The couscous was super delicious, there was a perfect balance of saltiness and sweetness Potatoes & carrots: everything roast vegetables should be. The carrots were soft and sweet and the potatoes had a great crunch on the outside and fluffy inside Chicken: so soft and tender with fantastic flavours. Best dish of the night Olive oil ice cream sandwich: this is one of the best desserts I've ever had. Both concept and execution were 10/10. The soft and creamy ice cream with the crispy biscuits and pistachio crunch were just perfection I would've given this place a 5 star if not for the service. The wait staff were warm and friendly, however the wait time was just too long. Waiting almost an hour for the main course was not acceptable in my opinion. The service was also inattentive - we had to flag them down and ask for everything.
I visited NOMAD recently and overall was very impressed, with a 9/10 being a fair rating in my eyes. The restaurant itself is good vibes, with an open kitchen adding to those in abundance. We were promptly seated and ordered drinks but didn’t get a food menu for 15/20 minutes afterwards. I understand why the restaurant does this, but the wait was too long for me. Between three we shared the flatbread, burrata and fava bean hummus to start. The burrata was nice but not as good as the bread and hummus. For mains we got the onion tarte tatin, pork, charcoal chicken with potatoes and asparagus. The pork was the stand out with lovely crackling but super tender. The tarte was great and the goats curd worked well with it, then the chicken was solid. I wasn’t crazy about the sides but they worked well. Finally we got the olive oil ice cream sandwich, which was delicious but the olive oil flavour is quite subtle and goes missing when eaten with the honey and crumble. I’d definitely recommend NOMAD and go back myself. It’s very reasonably priced for the quality of produce and cookery (~315 dollars for drink each and the food). A couple minor tweaks and this would be exceptional.
This was my last and best meal in Melbourne before I returned home. Every dish was done so well! Would highly recommend everyone that is travelling to come and try this! We had the scallops, pillowy flatbread to go along with the full bodied hummus, the zucchini fritters that packs a punch, the MUST ORDER well seasoned dry aged pork cutlet and not forgetting the MUST ORDER olive oil ice cream too
Great experience at Nomad Melbourne. The food was very tasty overall, though the steak was a bit rich for my liking, however to be expected as a Wagyu. Standout dishes were the flatbread and the zucchini flower both excellent. Tuna Escabeche was balanced and delicious. Oysters were also fresh and house made worstershire sauce was a great addition.Service was good and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. Would happily return.
