Oh my lord, this was beautiful! Lunch is perfect price wise. 100% recommended. Dinner is amazing too, with different specials from time to time. Service is marvelous.
Best Japanese food in Cairns. Amazing service. Good atmosphere. We order the Salmon don and Tofu don(Vegetarian). They are amazingโจThe freshness. The taste. The presentation. Everything is so perfect. No doubt why the place is alway full of people. Even the drinks and dessert is good. It's homemade and definitely tastes fantastic ! Reasonable price as well compared to the quality of food.
We visited haruka during the June long weekend and was in love with the food. We have been to Japan many times (Hokkaido, Kyushu and Honshu) and the service and ambience transported us back to Japan. We would gladly come back
Canโt fault it. Salmon garlic fried rice, pork katsudon and a chicken karaage/teriyaki rice bowl were spot on. Quick service, lovely people.
Good food, good prices; atmosphere, surroundings not so good and only so-so service. The restaurant has a small number of tables inside. There's a clear warning on the door to not enter without a reservation (see photo). While that may be true it isn't the best introduction to a new place to eat. There is ANOTHER warning about the same on one part of their menu -- again, it isn't welcoming and it made me feel uncomfortable. (Summary: please call us several days before to ask for a reservation; if you call us during service hours we may not answer the phone.) Unfortunately we didn't know about this so had not made reservations which forced us onto one of the outside tables (there were 4 or 5). They face a car park which is maybe 20 metres from the road. Personally I don't enjoy exhaust fumes when I eat but maybe I'm in the minority. The lunch menu is simple with four choices, each one attractive and well-priced. The photos of the sushi & sashimi on the menu showed salmon which I don't like and I asked if they could substitute anything else. They could and did with no fuss which I appreciated a lot. The food didn't take long to arrive and was fresh & tasty. Their wasabe has a kick to it -- stronger than normal. My lunch set included some tempura but they don't provide daikon oroshi (grated daikon radish) that normally goes into the sauce. I asked for it but they said they don't have it, a strange omission from an otherwise good Japanese restaurant. We were a party of 3 and everyone enjoyed their meals. My friends like sake and they rated Hakura's as one of the best they've had in Cairns. The miso soup was also among the best we've had in Cairns.
